‘Children of Mama Asili’ released in Jaipur Literature Festival
A novel written by Sarthak Parashar was released in Jaipur Literature Festival on 26th Jan, 2019.
The function was organised by Jaipur Bookmark and the book was launched by eminent writer and
publisher, Ms. Anita Nair along with a panel of other writers and publishers. During last year’s
Jaipur Literature Festival, this novel was shortlisted in ‘First Book Club’ by Jaipur BookMark.
The novel is based on the theme of environment protection and wildlife conservation. It depicts the
story of a teenage girl who battles against all odds to save a mysterious creature she one night
finds in her balcony. The story is set in the year 2050, where environment has degraded further,
cities are overpopulated, pollution is at its nadir and wildlife’s at the verge of extinction. Though
science has brought new inventions and technology, the man has become a burden on mother
nature.
The novel explores different aspects of the problem, traversing from India to China to Africa an
role of different agencies involved. The story has been woven in such a fascinating way that by the
end of first chapter, you end up becoming one with the story and its characters.
